More model informationThis rod of fine sandstone exhibits with horizonal wear that results from use as a drill or boring tool. These tools are known as ‘Knap of Howar Borers’ and date from the early Neolithic (c.3600-3300 cal BC). This example was discovered at the Knap of Howar, Papa Westray during excavations in the 1970s.
