A quick experiment (edit: now a WIP for the mechanimal challenge I just discovered!) with hard-surface, and I still have a long way to go !
This model is (more than) based on “The Timber Beneath”, a wonderful sculpture by Stephen Lambert.
The different “organs” as well as textures were just randomly thrown around, but with some more practicing, I definitely think I’ll start enjoying this style and find a nice designing/modeling/texturing workflow, to hopefully design original models some day.
Also, none of the mechanisms make any “mechanical sense”, which is why I did not animate the model. As before, that could change with some more attention brought to details, and a little bit of thinking before acting :D
