Unknown, likely Toxodon - fragment of lower jaw3D Model
Description: This is a 3D laser surface scan of a fragment of lower jaw with matrix attached. It is between 126,000 and 11,700 years old. This specimen has been scanned as part of the Museum’s Darwin Fossil Mammals digitisation project. Find out more at www.nhm.ac.uk/darwinsfossils.
Comments: This specimen was associated in the collection with one of the lower jaws of Toxodon found at Punta Alta (specimen NHMUK PV M 16566) and the preservation is similar. It is possible it is part of the same specimen as the lower jaw, although there is no obvious join between the two.
Specimen number: NHMUK PV M 102041
