Looking through random sites for concepts to turn to 3D, I found this cool looking robot-assisted painter. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/6LwO6
Out of all the things I saved this was the first I have decided to make. Using Maya, and simple lambert materials for the colours. I’ve wanted to do some lowpoly cartoon-esque models for a while and finally jumped in after reading this article by Danette Beatty. https://80.lv/articles/the-soul-of-low-poly-characters/
I’ll be honest I did get bored of modelling and jumped into colouring a little early, hence the missing robotic arm on the right of the drawing, although I may go back in and add that later. Additionally for posing I simply used Maya’s built-in ‘quick rig’ tool as I’m entirely inexperienced with rigging at the moment, this is something I want to look into.
For my first proper, finished, character I am pleased with the outcome. I think the things I could improve on are the colours and the shading.
