More model informationThe Etruscan necropolis of Banditaccia is located on a tuffaceous hill north-west of Cerveteri, and in its 400 hectares of extension there are many thousands of burials. The Etruscan road called ‘Via degli Inferi’ - the road to the underworld’ - once connected the necropolis with the ancient city.
The road was used over a long time-span and therefore its surface sunk deeper and deeper into the soft bedrock. Nowadays you walk more then 120cm lower than the original level.
On eater side of the road you can find hundreds of Etruscan tombs.
