Anything that moves is challenge to scan because of its changing geometry. We asked our model to keep their fingers tense, which makes it easier to hold them motionless. But hands can also be tricky to digitize because it’s hard for the scanner to maintain tracking when capturing the edges of the hand. So we created a special prop for this - we cut a hole in a sheet of cardboard and had the person put their hand through it, leaving the cardboard at the level of the wrist. This created a background, which makes it easy to keep tracking and allowed us to scan the edges with ease using Artec Space Spider.
