The Etruscian Necropolis of Pianezze is situated about 3 km south of Grotte di Castro, along the road leading to lake Bolsena. The tombs, dating from the end of the seventh to the end of the sixth cent. B.C, are dug into the soft tufa rock along a steep cliff.
Inside the tombs the dead were placed in rectangulare graves dug into the floor, which were once covered by slabs. The appeariance of the central camber is following the schema of the houses of the living, as the tomb was seen as the dwelling of the family reunited in the netherworld.
While the secondary cells are roughly squared, the central chambers are carefully worked: the ceiling has a double rooflike slope with a central beam drawn along the longitudinal axis of the tomb.
The two tombs showen here are situated at the far end of the visitable area, and there are two smal gaps which connect the secondary camers of tomb P33 with the main camber of tomb P32.
The model was generated with photoscan from 553 photos taken by a Lumix DMC-TZ61.
