Septic System with an ATU and Drip Drainfield

This septic system has an aerobic treatment unit (ATU) which uses oxygen to treat sewage before it is dispersed through the drainfield. Systems with an ATU can have any type of drainfield. A drip drainfield requires an ATU or other pre-treatment system.

Proprietary systems require more frequent inspection and maintenance.
