More model informationAn error strewn model of the Rudston monolith, which is the tallest standing stone in the UK. The stone measures 7.6 metres (visible) and can be found in the grounds of All Saints Church, Rudston, Yorkshire. The first church is thought to have been built shortly after the Norman conquest, at least a few thousand years after the monolith was erected.
The model was created from 88 images (using Canon Powershot A640) captured using a ground level SfM approach in 2009, hence all the holes and refills. Although not used in the final publication, the imagery was captured as part of research for an English Heritage ‘Research Department Report Series’ publication on the use of SfM / Microsoft Photosynth within heritage.
