More model informationThis tiny stone hut is typical in the south of France, where it can be called “cabane” or “borie” or different other names from region to region.
These shelters were built by the peasant of shepherds, from stones found locally, both walls and roof, with no wooden frame, and no mortar. The walls are very thick, so as to be able to withstand the weight of the roof, and to provide a good shelter against wind, rain and snow. Because of this the inside is tiny.
I wanted to shoot both inside and outside, but when I went in, it was so small, I couldn’t get all the pictures I needed, in fact I could hardly stand inside.
Actually, it now only shelters the hens, hence the wooden stick in the middle.
