Trench 9 was a 10 x 4 m trench running East to West. The trench was selected through a public poll with DigVentures global community. This trench was described and selected on the basis of the presence of significant geophysical anomalies identified through a magnetometer survey conducted in 2013. This identified several potential features including a possible rectangular structure surrounded by an exterior ditch, a further potential field boundary and a final unidentified magnetic anomaly. Three features were identified within the Trench none of which were identified within the geophysical survey. Two were post-medieval field drains, one running east west, F902, the other running north south, F901. These were made of single cuts filled with loosely packed stone to facilitate the draining of the fields they were placed in. The final feature was the tumble from a wall running North-East to South-West.
