A cross-section of the dam located on the most eastern side of Lake Georgetown, Texas. Initially I thought the rocks would present a perfect pattern for photogrammetry software to use as invariant local features, however, the images were only taken at nadir which resulted in the rocks clumping together in this model. Future models should include shots from lower altitude and various angles to give greater depth.
The imagery for this model (75) was obtain using a DJI Phantom 3 Standard with the flight plan created using DroneDeploy. The model was reconstructed using the OpenDroneMaps’ web application WebODM. The open-source tool-chain creates georeferenced and orthorectified images (tiff and png), as well as 3D models (meshed and textured). This model is the georeferenced textured output with no additional postprocessing.
The entire model (and additional files) took approximately 3 hours to process.
