More model informationCulture: Bronze Age Material: Stone Accession No: HCA 212 Current Location The Hunt Museum, Limerick. An Early Bronze Age casting mould for flat copper or bronze tools. One face contains a matrix for a flat axe and a smaller axe or chisel-like implement; the opposing one has a matrix for a lightly larger flat axe. The edges of the mould have been shaped by pecking, the face with the matrix remains irregular suggesting it is unlikely a cover would have been fitted on top. As the Bronze Age progressed, more complex two-piece moulds were developed. More.
