More model informationRemains of a 19th-century cellar excavated in Washington, DC. The house was built by the 1850s with the cellar in the rear yard. Subsequently, the cellar was filled in and additions to the rear of the house covered it. Excavations were carried out by the District of Columbia Historic Preservation Office and volunteers.
