More model informationEngraved by the carpenter of the HMC Mermaid in 1820. Phillip Parker Kings charted the north coast of Australia over three voyages from 1819 to 1822. He careened the cutter “Mermaid” in Careening Bay in 1820 to repair extensive damage to the ships hull. The crew carved the tree and left in place a copper engraved plaque as proof of their visit.
Carved almost two hundred years ago, the Boab tree it is carved into is thought to be atleast 800 years old and can be found in Careening Bay near the Prince Regent River in the Kimberley in Western Australia
