More model informationThe South Arklow Lighvessel Guillemot was built in 1893 by William Allsup and Sons Ltd., Preston, measuring 29 m in length. She was a lightship owned by the Commissioners of Irish Lights. On 28th March 1917 the Guillemot was sank by gunfire from the UC-65 after the crew of the UC-65 boarded and search her for secret materials. She now sits 18 km south east of Arklow and 45.6 m below the surface.
