The Museo Civico Archeologico di Palazzo Bombardieri, hosted inside the sixteenth-century Palazzo Bombardieri, was created in 1955 by the local Archaeological Group in order to preserve some of the Hellenistic grave goods found in Castiglioncello, and it was later improved with some of the artefacts found in the surrounding area.

The museum takes care of the relationship between man and environment and of the maritime vocation of the territory, retracing the history of the settlements and the exploitation of the resources of the coastal area included between Castiglioncello and the river Cecina, from prehistoric times to the Middle Age.
