A globular earthenware jug (MAHS-IDN-COL-004-O-0028), from the collection of the Siwalima Museum, Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia. Its provenance is from Banda Ely in the Kei islands. Measuring 23cm high x 21cm diameter. It has an arched handle on the top, with round holes on both ends. The surface of the jug is painted in ochre with dark brown motifs of dots, circular patterns, and lines.
This jug was probably used as a water container. This type of pot is thought to have only been made in Banda Ely (Elat), but are no longer produced there.
