More model informationThe place-name translates as Loch of the Yallow Fank. It appears as such on all OS maps, back to the first survey in 1878, yetthe fank is not shown on any pre-WW2 maps at all.
Ths small structure does not appear on any map. It is about 10 metres away from the shoreline and, although it resembles a drystoe bothy or shelter, I think it is more likely to be a shooting butt, given its proximity to the loch. It also has poor visibility to the surrounding hinterland, a disadvantage if watching grazing animals!
Sorry - forgot to place range pole ;)
