More model informationThe place-name translates as Loch of the Yallow Fank. It appears as such on all OS maps, back to the first survey in 1878.l
Close to the northeastern edge of the loch (within 20 metres of the shoreline) there is a substantial rock, a little over 2 metres x 1 metre high and around 20cm wide, front to back. It isaligned around 20degrees north of east, Swveral ‘chocking stones’ can be seen along the northern side of the stone.
Prostrate stones such as this are not unusual in the Uist landscape, but often overlooked.
A1-metre range pole is placed North-South, alligned with red to North.
