Our USF Libraries DHHC team used 3D terrestrial laser scanning, imaging, and geophysical techniques to document the above and below surface features and anomalies, confirming burial numbers and locations, and helping to digitally preserve the monuments and markers that commemorate these early coastal settlements and homesteads on Florida’s East Coast. Today, these cemeteries are part of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and are managed as cultural resources by the Space Launch Delta 45 Program.
